European Voluntary Service

EVS – A great opportunity to get involved in Friends of the Elderlymake-a-difference

European Voluntary Service (EVS) is a European Commission funded programme for lifelong learning and volunteering in Europe. The EVS programme allows young people to volunteer with a non-profit organisation in a country other than their home country.

The aim of the European Voluntary Service (EVS) is to develop solidarity and promote active citizenship and mutual understanding.

The European Voluntary Service enables young people age 18-30 to carry out voluntary service for up to 12 months. Beyond benefiting local communities, volunteers learn new skills and languages, and discover other cultures. Non-formal learning principles and practice are reflected throughout the project.

Our Social Engagement Project

Our EVS project focuses on giving our older members and volunteers opportunities to make meaningful social contacts and to have fun together. As an EVS volunteer you will help with our social clubs where you will get an opportunity to share your special talents with our members. Volunteers will be able to develop a close friendship with 1-3 older friends and you will call out to them weekly for a friendly chat and a cup of tea. Developing friendship and companionship links with our older members will be central to your role.

If you are out going, emphatic, have a special talent (sing, play an instrument, artisitc) and want to work with our older members and a dynamic volunteer team, we are the EVS project you are looking for.

All costs, including the pre-departure training, travel, accommodation and subsistence are paid; volunteers also receive a small monthly allowance as ‘pocket money’ during the project.
