As we are encouraging older people to re-engage in activities that they once loved and to start living life again, they are now being faced with another challenge – the rising cost of living.
Members are choosing between eating and heating and they have little disposable income for social activities.
This is why our services are so important. Our Social Programme of Activities provides an opportunity for our members to leave their homes and come to us here in Bolton Street. We provide Coffee Mornings, and Wednesday social clubs with live music, singing, dancing, and refreshments. Yoga classes, bingo, active afternoons, cabarets all with refreshments. These activities take place in a warm and caring environment where our members can feel a sense of belonging and a reason to take part in life again.
We will run our summer day trips and for many members, it might be their first time to a particular county in Ireland.
Weekend breaks are once again possible as our members have new friends to travel with.
Hygiene and food hampers are distributed to help alleviate the rising cost of living. This helps to free up some disposal income so that our members can not worry about heating their homes.
We can’t do this alone, and any support that you can provide would go a long way to helping us reach those who need our support.
Thank you.
