Loneliness – the cruelest companion
“I’m very lonely and frightened” – Christy 89
Our volunteers are working to try and meet the extra demand placed on our services this year. It has been a very tough year for older people – especially because of COVID-19 and it’s been especially difficult for those older people who live alone.
We are hearing more and more from our volunteers, who are busy making Friendly Calls how frightened older people are feeling and how many just feel “like giving up”.
We can’t let that happen.
We need to continue our vital services for those people who desperately need our help. Providing phone calls, food hampers, toiletries, cards, letters and birthday cards. They need to feel they are important, that they are not being left behind that they have friends – people who care for them.
Please support our Urgent Christmas Appeal – we need your help to reach those who are struggling right now in your local community.
