Loneliness – the cruelest companion
“I am begging you not to forget me, I need food and I need help” – Rita 91
During these very difficult times of COVID-19, Friends of the Elderly are working to ease the fears felt by many older people living alone and in isolation.
We have increased our Friendly Call Service and are providing food hampers – the demand for our services has greatly increased. Last year we made 26,000 calls to older people, this year the number will be exceptionally higher.
We are hearing on the phone how frightened our members are. They are scared to leave their homes, they are scared there will be no food left for them, they are afraid – they know they are the most vulnerable.
Please, support our Emergency Appeal – we need your help to reach those who are struggling right now and need our help and support.
